Gears. You willl turn way over 3k rpms with 4.30s. At 80 you will be at about 3500 but if you don't drive 80 alot then definitely go with the 4.30s.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stop speaking from what you hear and not what you know. 80mph is like 27-2800rpms for me with 4.30's. The only thing that bothers me on long trips is the exhaust note at 2200rpms (6omph).

They're really not that bad... All you wanting 4.30's, ask me, I'll give you the real info.

How can you be turning only 2700 RPM at 80 MPH? WIth 3.73s my car is turning right at 2500 at 80. This doesnt make any since. Are you sure that your speedo is correct?

I know that the 3650 cars are geared lower, but I don't think that the T-5 cars are. Unless you have an automatic.

4.30s is way to much gear. Unless you are running slicks or some sort of 2000 mile drag radial how do you expect to get off the line? I bet you cannot even floor it in 2nd without it destroying the tires. I am having traction problems in 2nd with my worn nittos. I cannot imagine what it would be doing with 4.30s.

I can see 4.30s if your constanly at the track, the car is not a daily driver, and you run slicks at the track. Or of course you like burnout contests. Otherwise, if you have a T-45 car go with 3.73s, and a 3650 car go with 4.10s.

Edit: According to all of the gear calc websites, with 245/45/17s on the back, and 4.30s, 80 MPH RPM should run right around 3200 RPM.

I was messing around with the calc posted above by 98UAGT and with a tire width of 315 youd be running on the high end of 2700 rpms with 4.30 gears at 80 mph, so it is possible ot be ruinning those rpms at that speed

Thank you Philly for getting my back on this! Everyone says I am retarded for that, but not everybody runs 17"s with 4.30s, there are different tire and rim sizes.

275/35/18.

Yes, I am running an aod-e. (4r70w) And no, I DO NOT turn 3200rpms at 80mph. More like 2,800. And no, my speedo is not accurate, it's exactly 10mph off, and I've taken that into account.

So if he puts on way taller tires, and swaps over to an automatic, then he can plan on running a still fairly high RPM of 2800 @80. On the other hand, as the car sits (5spd right?) he is gonna be running over 3200 RPM (it said like 3268) at 80 MPH. In my opinion that is way to high.

And as I said, unless he runs around on slicks he isn't going to be able to launch for ****. Your gonna be banging off the rev limiter in 1st so fast you won't believe it. Hell I have problems staying out of the red with 3.73s (and my worn out nittos) because it revs so fast.
