I gave him the idea of the rotating assembly, its all forged, how would just the block its self not hold the power? The block its self just real thin?
will the block its self with all forged internals on 14 psi be ok about 550rwhp

some of you don't read or don't understand.
No, we understand. You don't. It is cheaper to just buy the short block. Plus (most of the time)you get a warranty. If you bought a rotating assembly for $1800+ or if you get a good assembly, $2000+, you just can'tdrop it in. You have to get the block machined which can run an extra $400 to $500.And unless you know how to do everything your self, you would also have to pay someone todo the assembly. Would you get a warranty? probably not. At MMR you can buy a short blockthat could handle 600hp for $2400 and you get a warranty. I sound like a salesman for MMR but I’m not. So going with a short block is cheaper, easier, less time consuming, and limits how much you can screw things up.

However if you want a learning experience, assemblingthe engine would definitely do it.

thanks, I did not know machine work needed to be done, and the part about reading and understanding was not towards you, I was trying to get a better idea about the block strength, and some think of the block as a short block.

as far as putting the motor together I think we can handle that, the heads come with valves and springs, the only trick part Imo would be the cams, but im sure there is a how too some where. Steve looks like the mmr short block with cms heads/cams is the way to go.

In most cases, it is better to go with a short block. As stated above, you will have machine work costs for the block.
Also, when pricing rotating kit, most companies ( including us) offer them un balanced or balanced. Balancing does cost extra.

As for the iron 2V/4V block (GT/Termi. are the same block) block power size, we have seen over 750 rwhp from them.

I would not recommend more than around 425rwhp on the stock internals. They have weak pistons/ring lands.

If you would like some more info, suggestions, etc, please don't hesitate to contact us. We are happy to help. By the way, we are having a sale on our 4.6 Mod parts. Good luck on your project!

Casey

MPH is about to start selling an econo shortblock that's go for 600hp for like $2600. They are teaming up with Proline Race Engines. For the price I don't think you can beat it.

^ exactly. HP ratings were different back then. By todays standards those '400-500' hp cars of the 70's were actually making around 290-350

"I" would do the shortblock. By the time you pay for machining, assembly, etc...the shortblock will be less expensive in the long run.
