Gt upgrades
I recently purchased a used 2000 GT. The previous owner put a K&N Air filter and thats about the only performance addition done to it. I have a few questions about some upgrades. Im sure you get this questions alot but is it worth putting an Aftermarket CAI in or should i just keep the K&N in there? I put 3.73 gears in my old V-6 and loved them and was wondering what comes stock in a GT and if i wanted to go higher what kind of gears should i put in there? Are there any additions to help with gas mileage or any cheap additions that add some reasonable power to my car?
Thanks!

RE: Gt upgrades
3.27s come stock. I have 4.30s but their not for everybody. i drive a mile to school everyday but a lot of people do a lot of commuting. i still get 24MPG with the 4.30s on the highway. 3.27s with cruise control i got about 27-28MPG. Get a nice midpipe and catback to let the engine breath better + youll love the sound.

RE: Gt upgrades
personally i could feel quite a difference between the stock air filter setup and the CAI. even if you've got a K&N filter in there, the stock air inlet tubing doesn't flow very well so it would probably be worth it to just go with a CAI. also consider getting a 75mm throttle body and an upper intake plenum (the "elbow" that hooks up between the throttle body and the intake manifold). some exhaust work (cat-back, mid-pipe either x-pipe or h-pipe) will really make a difference, and some 3.73 gears would be good for most applications. if you've got an automatic i'd recommend 4.10s. i've got 3.73s in my car (5 speed) and they work perfectly for me cause i do a mix of highway and city driving.

RE: Gt upgrades
the mustangs came with 3.27 stock.when you talk about gears, if you say higher, you are saying 3.08.what i think you are really talking about is you want lower gears,EX: 3.55, 3.91, 4.10, 4.30, or simply 4.56.the bigger the # the lower the gear, the lower the # the higher the gear.
