Default RE: 99' Cobra (IRS gay???)

"LOL take that IRS to the track with some slicks and see how long those half shafts hold up. The IRS is meant for AutoX racing and not for serious takeoff's also. They may ride better bt in no way is it drag performance oriented. "

Maybe I should have stated my point sooner..

I'm an old AutoX'er.. I love drag racing, but I'm a Road Course kinda guy..

It is very true that the solid rear axles are best left for Drag Racing, and the regular 8.8 is good enough for a 10 Sec car, but where I used to live, right outside of Boston, a solid rear axle is like riding in a lowered truck. Potholes, hills, and turns are a f-ing terrible ride, much less w/ stiffer springs and struts.

Plus I think there's a shop in Fla that does updated Chrome-moly half shafts that can handle up to 900rwhp. So pick your poison...

Besides, look on Ebay, all sorts of Cobra guys are ditching their IRS for a solid rear 9", so you could get one pretty cheap. I've thought about going that route, but I don't have access to a welder...
