Unbolting a couple mounts and jacking the motor up sounds a lot easier than a head removal thus far...lol..

From everything I've read, unless you want maximum N/A power, or plan on boost at some point, LT's are not worth the money/time for parts and install.

LT headers just happen to be one of the most PITA jobs on our cars. At the minimum you have to unbolt the motor mounts and jack up the engine a little. A lot of people just end up dropping the K-member all together to get enough space. Lets put it this way, its not uncommon for the average guy who decides to tackle this in the driveway to have his/her car up on stands for a week.

They are a PITA, took me a week, but that was only working a couple hours each night. I also did not drop the K member. It is doable, but i remember spending over an hour tightening one bolt. That should tell you how tedius it is.

If you've got the time and the money, go for it. I personally would never pay a shop to install a set of headers, thats just me. Unfortunately I can't do LTs anyways cause I'm in CA.

My LT's cost me around 490 for the install, but that's only because that's around what they quoted me before they started. Everybody else in town started their rates at 725-750 and then extra depending on how long it took. Then when I picked up my car they said that I got lucky and because due to how hard/annoying it was, that after that they were never going to do LT's on a mustang for less than $700.
Good luck finding someone to do it cheap.

I was quoted $500 for the install. Of course the shop I'm going to does a lot of installations and they have built a special rig for removing and reinstalling the K-member.

Its called Air Tools and an Alignment Rack

I did my headers without Dropping the K member.

1st time I installed Headers
2nd Time Tranny Blew (3650) Rebuilt
3rd Time Tranny Blew (3650) THROW AWAY
4th Time now with TKO had a leak, Changed to Locking Bolts.

after doing it afew times its no problem.

Still takes TIME, but its more like a ROutine
