how car can i push my stock block with the vortech strim???
hey guys...my performance mods are: 600hp rated stage2 clutch, b&m shifter, 3.73 gears(full posi), eibach springs, steeda pulleys, upper intake plenum, 75mm throttle body, sct x3 flash device with custom dyno tunes, 315 nitto drag radials on cobra wheels on the rear, slp loudmouth 1 catback, pypes offroad xpipe, jba headers, vortech v1 s trim supercharger kit with 90mm maf and high flow fuel pump,39# injectors, and boost gauge, ebay intercooler kit...
i have a few questions....the supercharger is coming with a 10lb. pulley....will i lose some boost with the full exhaust system and the intercooller....also...will this be a reliable setup on my stock bottom end...i have heard a ton of people say it will be okay after i get it dyno tuned with the x3...but there is one guy that says its going to blow if it goes over 375hp...how much boost is everybody pushing on there 2v's??....im trying to avoid going with forged internals...this setup should be okay with a real good dyno tune,correct?...thanks in advance, joey

there is no gaurentee. If you were really smart and wanted to be almost 100% safe you would tune it to 350-360 rwhp and flog it with little worry. If your moderate, want to try and stay safe and drive it for few years as is, then right about 400 rwhp SHOULD be ok, itsa weekend warrior or blowing the wont hurt you, then 450 or rwhp is ok. It could last 1 pull or 3 years, there is no way to tell, the biggest thing is the tune, and part of that is setting it up to pull spark and not fuel when you hit the rev limiter. Generally power and reliabilty are on a sliding scale, and you have to asses your goals and appropriate risk level

okay...so if i decide to make it reliable for sure with 400ish rwhp....then i really just need to get forged pistons and rods, correct?

well yes and no, just because your motor is forged doesnt mean it wont blow either. Around 400 rwhp, if your tune is right and you dont abuse the car, it should last you for a very long time

forged internals just give the engine a better chance of surviving detonation which can be caused by a bad tune or a list of other factors.

I'm coming up on 2 years with 420~ WHP. Its ALL in the tune.. get a good tune and it will last, get a crap tune that detonates when it gets hot outside and BOOM.

I'm not sure but 10 lbs boost, 75mm TB/Plenum and full exhaust should put you somewhere near the limit so it is very important that you get a good tune.
