Cracked Intake Manifold :(
Well to keep a long story short. When I got to work yesterday morning my car was overheating like crazy. After putting water in it when I start it I have a huge coolantleak that looks like its coming from just above the transmission. I took it to a ford dealership shop and today they called me and said that my intake manifold is cracked. This sound about right to you guys? He kept saying that it was metal but I thought that our intakes were plastick. Is there another piece that is metal that is a part of the manifold? They cant work on it because of my nitrous, and no I wasnt spraying on it and havn't for about 5 months. I said well if its the manifold I can do that myself... Just want me to make sure I order the right part...
Any info helps, thanks guys!

Man the dealer is gonna rape you for that. Is not that hard to do. All the hardware etc can stay on untill its off. The fuel, vac, electrical connectionsand throttle cables are gonna be your hurdles. Its not like the old school intakes. This one pops right off. If I remember correctly you reuse the intake gaskets too.
It takes me about two hours to do one. I have done many many of them yes but its not hard. I have usually seen them crak in the front though. The replacement from the dealer even has a Aluminum runner to fix the problem.

Thats weird that it cracked in the back...usually they crack at the front in the coolant crossover. And usually only if its a pre 01 before they started using the aluminum crossover. I just had to swap mine this weekend because gay 00s came with the ALL plastic manifolds.

I wasnt going to have the dealership do it just have them diagnose it. They wouldn't work on it anways because of the nitrous. I didn't believe to much when they said it was cracked in the back but they didnt even take it apart to look, they just assumed. I called THR and talked to them and told them what I saw when I tore it apart. I didnt see any crackes but my drivers side Gasket in the back was all messed up. So I thought for whatever reasons the gasket just got torn up, whether it got to hot and did that I dont know. So i just went to Napa and got replacement gaskets for $35. Put em in there last night, took about 2 1/2 hours to put it back together. All fixed!

and no, you shouldnt reuse the gaskets!! [:@] when tightening em down, then running the car, they form to fit between the surfaces perfectly. removing them ruins the fitment. Now, if the car hasnt been started since you put the last gaskets on, then using those same ones again might be ok.

i have the same problem, mine is on the drivers side back. i've been through two sets of gaskets. It seems to be ok for a couple of months then starts leaking again. Oh well, guess i'll just have to do a p.i. swap
