Default Cobra engine question

Was 03-04 cobras the only one made with Cast iron blocks. Wouldnt it be cheapre just to buy a 96-99 Cobra motor with a new TKO 600. I plan to TT it later, so wouldnt that be my best way to go?

Also, was the 96-99 Cobras rated right or overated or underated?

the 03-04 blocks may be cast iron but are already forged out, 96-99 (and 01) are lighter but would require extra cash to buy a short block kit to withstand twin turbos. factor the cash in and then decide which is cheaper. 96-98 cobrasare about on the money forengine hp, 99's might not have the fix and therefor under rated, otherwise there about right.

They do, it is just that they don't have forged pistons or rods.

Oh. Ok. lol I thought that he meant that the block itself would not handle the power from a twin-turbo set-up. lol I was getting real confused.

thanks. I've decided on a 97 or 98 cobra engine. Buy some few bolt ons and full exhaust first. then im going to get my heads ported and polished and some new cams. then forge it. Thanks guys. Its way better than buying the expensive bengine with stuff i dont want.

the internals on 03-04 cobras are different than 96-98 cobras...they're iron blocks but the 03-04 cobras have forged pistons, forged rods, different head profiles for the cams anddifferent port contours for better air flow

going to get a 96-98 cobra and start with:
l/t headers, o/r h, catback. as well as a
tko 600 with centerforce dfx clutch and an aluminm FR driveshaft.
31 spline axle and detroit locker.
stage 2 heads and stage 2 cams.
fucus svt fuel pump.
short shifter.
springs.
3.73 gears. (not 3.80s, my bad)
single plain thottle body.
JLT intake.
forge rods pistons and crank.
procharge or 2xturbo runnining high boost depending on comp rate

After all that you MIGHT run high 400's hp... 03/04 Cobra FTW
Thats my opinion... but then I dont know how much a 96/98 Cobra motor goes for... BTW... the 96/98 cobramotors are 2v right?

no 4v. stock hp 305. about the same as 03-04 cobras iwhtout a s/c. i can buy a cobra engine off of ebay for1800-2500 off of ebay, but im looking around locally for a 5000-6500stock cobra with maybe 90000 miles on it. thats what i got my gt for about 3-4 years ago XD ripped off too. it WAS on the juice and had been modified but was reverted to partly stock before sold. Pi intake and pulley kit. oil pressure guage and o/r h and flowmaster dumps. but it had been wrecked in the rear end and covered upwith another bumper. went into a ditch trying to learn it when i got it. 15 yo with too much ignorance around a sharp curve with unkonwn rocks on road and 40mph with a light rearendXD the crushed rear end helped put a dent in my rear quater and mess up my trunk and now my rear end pops.

But im going to buy a 96 or 97 cobra stock. Install the Eibach Pro Sport Springs off of my GT along with the 275/40/17s on chrome cobra r's on it. along with my soon to besvt focus fuel pump and centerforce dfx clutch.

ANYONE SELLING A COBRA IN THE SOUTHEAST TX AREA PM ME PLEASE
