i got a 99 ford mustang
and i was wondering if i put 410s in it what my top speed would be and how much would it help me
im trying to make it a stop light car
i already have off road X pipe into flowmaters, shortshifter, coldair intake and underdrive pulleys.

well it's a 5spd... so 1st gear is useless with 4.10's but 5.th gear will come into play...

you'll be able to still do 140+ but idk why you'd want to go so fast on a road... (wow guess I'm getting old)

Top speed will be around 120ish, in 4th gear.

Not sure what it goes to in 5th.


1st isnt useless with a 4.10, duburado obivously doesnt have one.

from what I hear, unless you have some sticky tires (drag radials) 4.10's might be counterproductive as you will have a difficult time getting any traction in 1st gear on stockish tires.

Well I do have 4.10 and street tires and 1st gear isn't exactly doing much for me. Doing it all again I wish I would have not returned my 3.73 for the 4.10's.

honestly i'd get 3.73s. i've got them in my 5 speed and i still have traction issues in 1st gear. the road surfaces in town won't get you nearly the same traction that you'll get at a drag strip, so unless you've got some good tires and/or suspension mods to really hook up, 4.10s might just make you spin a lot in 1st gear.

for a 5 speed, get 4.10's or like dubarado said, 1st gear will be difficult to grip

i had 4.10s in my old '97 GT. First gear was pretty much useless. however, i was npi, so i did shift a little over 5k.

Top speed in 4th at redline with 4.10s will be 105-108 mph...won't quite get to 120 unless you want to press your luck with the stock rotating assembly.

Go for the 4.10s. Make sure you get a sticky tire. People say first gear is useless...the purpse of first gear is to get the car moving out the hole, so I'm not sure what they are talking about it being "useless".
