Default Just walked away from a deal for an 02 GT, was I right?

Well after the excellent advice I received from you guys here I decided to walk away from this deal. It was a 2002 black GT with 38,000 miles on it. However, it had a ding and a scratch on the passenger door (about a half dollar sized ding plus the paint was scratched off) and there was severe damage to all the rims on the wheels, one rim was even bent in like 1/2 an inch and all of them were scuffed up badly. On top of that there was a small burn mark on the leather interior in the back. Also all 4 tires needed replacing. However it had a KJ Air Filter and a Flomaster Exhaust on it...

Well you guys here said considering all the damage don't offer more than 11,500 or so. I offered 11,000, he said "that's ridiculous I won't take lower than 12,000 for this car" and I just said "thanks give me a call if you change your mind."

Right thing to do or considerign the aftermarket products (which I'd put on anyways) was 12,000 nearly fair enough?

Thanks!

dont pay extra for modds. + if a car is modded then it was probably raced

it sounds like the car was beat like a mother.[&:] w/ scratches etc.

I wouldnt pay anymore than 10,500 for that, actually i wouldnt want a stang to be all beat up. look for a older stang in better condition.

they r out their try eBay

Exactally. Don't even bother man. Go to ebaymotors.com, cars.com, autotrader.com. And look for some there. Good luck man.

To find out if you did good, did you check Kelly Blue Book or N.A.D.A. to see what it is worth?
Mods don't count when crunching the numbers.

Then add about $700-$800 to that price because that's what you would have paid for new tires. Would you have been happy with the bent rims? Then add the amount for replacing those. Then add the cost for the paint repairs.

Personally, with all those problems I would have walked away too. It doesn't sound like the current owner took care of it. There are lots of cars out there that have similar upgrades to choose from. Take your time and you'll get the car that you'll be happy with.

1) You did the right thing.....you would need to replace the tires , get the paint fixed and buy new rims.

2) the guy will probably call you back anyway.

be very careful on ebay if you choose that option, there are many scams out there including cars. remeber, if it seems too good to be true then it probably is.

Alright guys thanks for the great comments and tips! You definitely made me feel a lot better about this, it was real hard to walk away from 12 k for an 02, but I realized it was a real bad deal. :-)
