Default MIL Eliminator ?

Hey guys i have a 96gt and i am going to be getting some mil eliminators and i was just wondering if you have to have both of them pluged in in order for the check engine light to go off, because i lost one of my o2 sensors but i still have the other one, but i welded the other o2 sensor hole up so my exhaust wouldn't leak. So am i screwed or not? Will having just one mil work? thanx

I dont think that would work. we have dual exhaust so theres a sensor for the right side and one for the left. lets say a cat on the right side goes bad, the left sensor isnt going to pick it up but the right one will, so on comes the CEL. you do have an O/R midpipe right?

if you have a catted pipe then maybe. why would you only have one? they are sold in pairs.

i think you would have create another o2 bung for the second MIL on the side where the blank is. Close to the same spot too so they heat the same on both sides. Not positive on that though

Yes i have an o/r h pipe installed. And how would i go about drilling another hole in my mid pipe if that's what i really need to do. I would probably have to get another rear O2 sensor wouldn't i? Then drill a hole in my midpipe and then screw in the new 02 sensor? I don't feel like doing all that, that's why i am wondering if having just one mil eliminatorpluged in would work? If all else fails i could just try it first before doing all that work. more comments please. thanx

I still have some otheroptions open, so i'm going to try those and see but if those don't work than i'm just going to have to ignore it some more until i can save up enough for an sct tuner. First thing i'm going to try is i am currently taking automotive courses and i'm just going to ask one of my teachers if they could use one of their tuners and turn the rear o2's off and if they won't then my 2nd option is to take it to a mechanic that i know and see if he can use a tuner to turn the rear o2's off and if that doesn't work then i'm just going to have to wait till i have enough money because i've already fooled around with my exhaust enough and i don't feel like messin with it n e more. So thanx for all the comments guys. wish me luck.[8D]

having a mechanic or a shop teacher turn it off would only be temporary wouldnt it? it is still going to come back on unless you have a programmer

If they turn them off then the check engine light shouldn't come back on, but idk it's my only two options.
