Okay, I will be first to jump on this one...The stock internal on the GT's are good till around 325 or so RWHP. The rods are weak and the pistons break easy. Now, to the second part of your post...good and cheap when it comes to performance do not go together. If you want to put a turbo on your motor, sit down and be prepared to spend ALOT of Benjamins.

HP performance makes a sweet twin turbo kit, but it is expensive as hell. Im looking into getting 1 and that is gonna run me about $7100 for a stage 2 kit. The kit comes with everything that you need....the whole front suspension...Turbos, exhaust, etc. About the internals....it would probably be easier for you to just by a short block. Try www.modularmustangracing.com Im looking at 1 of their 4.6 stroker blocks.....$4000. Like Code3 said building 1 of these bad boys can get expe$ive..I would be ready to break out the wallet.

The block is cast iron, good to about. 600hp.
The crankshaft is cast iron and is good to about 500hp.
The connecting Rods are made out of powdered metal good to about 400hp.
The pistons are hyperutectic up to about 10psi. of boost. im not sure the HP figure.

So the If you want to get a HP turbo kit, like I want to get as well. I would replace the whole short block. Because you may only want 500hp but you never know eventually you always want more. www.Seanhylandmotorsports.com makes good stuff. Or get a cobra crate engine those are very strong. I think Im just going to get a cobra crate motor. Are atleast replace mine with a built 4 valve.

Just my .02, but I wouldn't buy anything from sean hyland...I looked and spoke with them when I was looking for my longblock and was not impressed. I went with VT Engines, check out their site...they are da bomb... www.vtengines.com

Ohh really. They are very expensive but I read the Book Sean Hyland wrote. "How to build max performance 4.6 liter ford engines." I was impressed by what I read. But thanks for the input I will check them out. I also have heard good things about DSS but I want to buy a long block that offers them with 4v heads.

My wife's Stang has a forged DSS shortblock. The thing about VT is when you REALLY start shopping, alot of things that are extra $$ from places like DSS and SHM, are included in VT engines. Also, after talking with Jim and Scott at VT, I felt very comfortable.
