service code p0302
Ok i was driving a month ago when my service engine light came on.Borrowed a code readersays i have a p0302 cyclinder misfire in 1-7. Now my question is if i'm having a misfire wouldn't my performance be affected? The car drives fine starts up the same as the first day i bought her. I've been driving aroundfor a month now and there is no difference in the way the car feels. I have a big roadtrip comming up if it's not a big deal i would like to deal with this problem when i get back frommy trip.
That code means you have a detected misfire on cylinder #2. It may only be at certain rpm's(probably high or full throttle) and this may be way you don't notice it. I would try checking all connections for the #2 cylinder, spark plug, wire, maybe your coil pack is bad. Try driving the car hard and see if you feel a diff inperformance.
I drive the car hard any chance i get with alot of freeway driving to and from workwith alot of great straightaways. Just before i got home to write this forum i did a 100+ blast down the freeway so top end seems okay. The problem started a month ago so i've had time to play with car and see if the was any noticable difference in power and the only reason i haven't taken it serious is the car drives the same. It's the roadtrip, Idon't want to be 500 miles from home when my car descides it doesn't want to work.
Well figured it out it was the coilpacks cyclinders 1-7 were beat real bad on the bottom so i replaced all of them. Car runs great infact it feels really strong.I'm sure the guy in the black sti knows it, (he found out the hard way). I want to thank u stangeatsrice i don't know why i didn't bother tocheckthe coilpacks. I never had a car with those things. I was under the impression that they would last longer than they did car only has 60,000 miles.
