Default 2001 GT Running Rough

Ok, I became an official newbie today. I bought a used 2001 Mustang GT. I'm already having an issue with a miss on acceleration. Thecar ran fine on the test drive and for about 10 miles after I filled up the tank with 93 octane. The low fuel light was on when I filled it up. Do these cars have issues with high octane fuel or could I be looking at something else. Can anybody give me a direction to start looking?

Thanks

J

Hmm, there should be absolutely no problem with 93, maybe you got some bad gas.

So what should I do with a full tank of gas like this? Drain it, maybe try gas dry??? I"ve never ran into a problem like this. The longer I run it, the worse the miss gets. At idle you can hardly hear it.

Hmm, if it is the gas itll be a bitch to syphon out 15 gallons or so. Maybe try some octance booster in it.

Octane booster won't help, but gas drier might... also check the fuel filter and the plugs.

why are you running 93 in a stock GT??

87 is cheaper and works fine.

besides, its probably been run on 87 for its whole life. try some 87 and see what happens.

I just tried to syphon the gas out but there is something keeping my fuel hose from making it completelyto the tank. I may have a smaller diameter hose I can try. It might work.

Yeah, I'm sure the car has lived off of 87 it's whole life butthe 93 octanewas a free tank of gas, so I took it.

Tomorrow I'll run to the auto parts store and find something to dry the gas with. Hope it works.

Your stang isn't going to run better on 93. stick w/ 87 until you have the car tuned to use 93 octane. It's a waste of money. I learned the hard way. Sounds like bad gas, 93 octane won't hurt your stang. DO you have a check engine light come on. check your maf to make sure it's plugged in all the way. If the car has been sitting for awhile, it would hurt to throw some fuel injector cleaner in it. Something dumb to tell you, my car always seems to run better on shell than other gas?? Also, my car is tuned for 93 octane, it doesn't run any better running 94 octane.goood luck w/ the new stang .

New development, the check engine light just came on and the car is running rougher than before. I think I'll just take it back to the dealer I bought it from and let them deal with it or take it back one. Thanks for all the posts!
