My first trip to the track...
Hey guys, I'll be making my first trip tomorrow to a local track (KCIR) for anyone in the KC area, and I was wondering if I could get any tips from some guys that have made plenty of runs so I could get the best times possible. From experience what is a good rpm to launch from and does smoking the tires before help that much with traction or not? Like I said, I'll be taking my first runs tomorrow so I could use some advice. Thanks.

Best way to learn...
Find an empty road and launch and launch until you figure out where your car likes to be launched and how much you should feather the clutch.
At the track, if you want to leave the line quick watching the tree for whatever reason, leave right before the last yellow light comes on. Also, watch a few people stage, my recomendation would be to stage as deep as you possibly can, if you catch traction and get out of the hole good, that deep stage will get you a quicker time.

Try not to be nervous. I know that is hard...No matter how many times I go down the track, I still get a little nervous. Focus on getting down the track and hitting all the gears. Your first run, dont worry about your time, just get a feel for the track. Thats what I would recomend. GOOD LUCK!!!

most likely for you and your mods you'll get the best 60's launching at about 2500 rpm - dumping the clutch. If you bog alittle then rev up alittle higher if you spin too bad (you need to spin alittle to get your revs up) then bring it down some. once you've got some seat time you'll get faster times by bringing it up to about 4000 rpm and feathering the power at the launch.
