Is my car ready for a supercharger?
I currently have a 98 mustang gt current mods are: Bullit throttle body, K&N CAI, Flowmaster exhaust, sport clutch, aftermarket 5 spd tranny, Diablo tune, PI Swap, Aftermarket suspension (lowered), and soon installing 3.73 gears and maybe headers.
Mustang puts down 260RWHP, 290RWTQ Mileage- around 60K or less on the engine...
Do you think it is ready for a supercharger? Or should i get a turbo kit?
Thanx
OR SHOULD I SELL IT AND GET AN LS1 FBODY???????????????

A brand new car is ready for a supercharger. Its gonna need a new tune and cold air intake anyway. If you dont plan on forging sometime soon, go with a decent centri or even a Kenne bell. Go turbo if you want enormous power and have the money to forge.
edit: Man I didn't see the LS1 edit part. If you want (relatively) cheap N/A power and like them more, then go for it, man.

To tell you the truth, LS1 T/A is my favorite car in the world. I always wanted that car ( i took the mustang from my brother who just happened to buy an mother******* 2002 z28 camaro- made me feel very jealous), even though i got a good job and some money in a bank, problems at home really are in my way. I dont know what to do, my heart is with an ls1 all the way. But they are soooooo expensive.
Mustang is fast too but i ve heard ls1 put down like 300 to the wheels stock. And whats really messed up is that i can only park the car outside....

yeah i'd stick with the 4.6, even though the LS1 has more power stock, with what you're running, adding a supercharger onto that will more than just modded LS1's a run for their money. but like as 97stanger said, you'd best be investing money into forged internals that will lower your compression, then with a SC, you could make more power than you would even remotely need

RE: Is my car ready for a supercharger?
One day i nearly lost control because mustang spins tires through first and second (Soon i want to post pics after i decide whether or not to keep it, i want to repaint it in black- also the car does not look like a gt, but is a cobra clone- missing a cobra hood and thats it)... I think i will do a run with my brother. But what's funny is that his camaro does not feel like its faster than my mustang (his is an a4).
For all i know, by next month i will decide which car to go with. If i find a deal on a t/a , i will prolly get it (no matter what tranny it is)

IF it was ME.... i wouldnt mess around with your current engine. If you can afford it and its what you like, i would go for the LS1, but i am a bit biased. But if the mustang is what you like, then stick with it! Get a forged motor and boost the snot out of it!

you're not going to be able to run much boost with that PI swap due to compression if you want that motor to last
