I have an 02 and want to change both, i dont have an owners manual so what weight GEAR oil deos my car take 75w-90?? And is the manual trans. gear oil a.t.f. or what, and how many qts for each?? thanks

I cannot remeber what the weight of the rear end lube is, but the trans takes regular ATF. I would go with synthetic on both the rear end and the trans (not to mention the engine).

You will pick up a few horsepower to the rear wheels, and greatly reduce the amount of wear on the rotating parts. Synthetic might be a bit more expensive at the start, but is defeintaly worth it in the end.

I remeber a show on TV where they took a stock LS1 and dynoed it before and after the synthetic swap. It was worth like 7-10 RWHP and some torque (this was trans/rearend/engine synthetic). Not a huge amount, but a pretty good result for the small cost.

7-10 RWHP for changing some fluids is a damn good gain IMO.
