just get the forged 2v. buy a mmr 600 short block or somethin and youll be fine. u could make 450 on either motor in its stock form but it wouldnt hold and like people have already said...the 4v and 2v have the same limits...mid 400s. get the forged 2v and make 450-500 and it will be safe also.

wait i swear i read somewhere that the block itself can take over 450 horsepower with forged internals?? or is the breaking point of the block 450 rwhp? I could just be mistaken

The block should be hella strong, and will outlast most forged rotating assemblies, i believe.

The block itself can take about 1000hp. I would go with a forged 2v since its way cheaper and you will be able to more than meet your hp goals with the 2v.

okay ha so with my engine right now i can put forged internals in it and it will be able to handle the 500 hp max? ha sorry its just not clicking up in the brain [>:]. haha cause if i can keep my engine right now and just get pistons, and rods (and anything else i need to forge?) to handle the 500 horse power then thats the root i will go. Means the sooner ill be able to get that super.

Which thats a different question. I really want a KB or a whipple but there so much money. Is there a lag with the centri supers? what i want is to hit the gas and just take off. Im afraid if i got one of the centri superchagers that i will not get the instant gratifcation.
AND! do i need to get new heads? prob gonna get cams when i supercharge it.

Thanks everyone that is helpin me out with this. I just wanna make sure i am safe with my decision, it sounds like im going to be using my current stock engine and just putting the forged internals in it. Its just when people say get the "forged 2v" im not sure if they mean a actual forged block or just stock block with forged interals

The 4.6 block is good to 1000 rwhp. The crank is good to around 650. The heads are good to around 600. The rods and pistons are good to around 420-450 rwhp. 425 rwhp translates to 500 hp (crank). Forged internals mean using a forged rotating assembly wihich is the crank, rods, and pistons. You wouldn't have to change the crank to get to 500 rwhp but your already talking about $15,000 of mods so a new crank wouldn't add that much. Your costs are going to go beyond the motor to drive trainand fuel system.

I dont like twin screws, but if your a bracket racer then they are hard to beat. There is no "lag" with centris. but they are rpm dependant
