ORIGINAL: DILO2001GT

see thats what makes me like my auto. stock i ran a 14.2 and i can't complain with that. but i have seen a few ppl struggle at the track and have a ton of mods and still run in the 15's. i would say learn how to launch a little better and you should start taking some good time off.

I would keep shifting at 5900-6000 rpms. I ran low 13's with a CAI, plenum, TB and X-pipe.
14.2 is a good time!!! I would have been happy to get that. When you ran that time did you hook or spin? What was your 60ft? What was your trap speed? Also what did you shift at? Sorry for all these questions but I have to get mine down in the 14's!! ***low 14's or BUST***

code3gt- What you said....

I thought shifting at 6k I would be right in the meat of the power when grabbing the next gear. I'll try shifting at 5k then 6k I guess..?

Keep shifting between 5900-6000 rpms. I ran low 13's with a CAI, plenum, TB, 3.73's and X-pipe.

6k is too high to be shifting. I've found that if you shift a little after your peak hp you are where you need to be. For me personally, I like shifting about about 5200 rpm.....sometimes a little less.

Like everyone else is saying, you are waiting far too long to shift. Go ahead and shift around 5500-5700 rpms and you'll get into high and mid 14's. Once you can figure out how to launch that biatch you will be running low 14's stock.

You think you had a bad day.... I took my stock '01 gt to orlando speedworld a few weeks ago. was able to run consistently in the 14.7 sec range all night. the problem was when I had to go up against a kid in a neon srt-4.. dammit I have a new appreciation for those little f'ers but you can bet the mods are on the way. Not a bad time.. actually had one of my best runs when I forgot to turn the traction controll off!!!

I think the lowering springs are gonna make it difficult to ever hook on street radials. You'll need to look into some drag radials or be dissappointed at the track.
For the record my 01 GT in November of 2003 ran a 13.45@102 w/ 2.05 60' at Beech Bend Raceway ....only mods were a K&N , Mac X pipe and welded in Flowmasters. I power-shifted @ 6000 BTW. The weather (very important) was a dry 50* with no wind. The car dynoed at 239rwhp , so it's no factory freak for sure. Good conditions and driving are the key

With my digi camera I made a short movie of one of his runs....the one where he spun too much. I've got it uploaded but it wont run anywhere for some reason??? My camera makes it a .mov which I guess is quicktime. It runs fine on my computer from the file, but within IE or Foxfire its like the quicktime isnt right??? Anyone have any ideas of what I am doing wrong???

dont worry... i bet i ran worse times than you... but i was at the 1/8 mile track tonight... my best time was a 10.2 in the 1/8 mile and my worst time was up at about a 12.3 i really need to work on my launch. all of my launches sucked... and i was shifting at like 6100 rpm for the shifts. so i dont think i was doing good.... yea, my worst time was with traction control off and my best was with it on. i still ran a 11.1 with traction control on cause i bogged the car down on one of my launches. i really need to improve on launching.... also, this was my first time at the track ever. never even been to watch before.. and my R/T for my 10.2 run was a 1.02.... that sucked.
