Default traction

I have a 99 GT and I have stock 5 spoks on it and nitto 555 all around, 255 40 17. Traction sucks, I take off normal and then punch it and they roast instantly. What brand of tire and what size should I get for my stock rims, I can only afford tires at this time so dont say get new rims.
thanks everybody Jason

I am having the same problem with my 2001 mustang gt i have 555's all around and have been losing traction like a true champ. Im going with deep dishes and 555r's on the back hopefully this will solve my problem. What do yall think??

I have had a set of used nitto drag radials 275 40's and they were awsome. But I think that putting that wide of a tire on my stock rim wich I think is a 17x8 (correct me if I am wrong) seem to be wearing in the middle because it is a bit too wide for the rim.

My nitto 555r's are pretty good, but ive heard people swear they are worthless unless heated. I hear good things about the BFG's but they wear pretty quick

Ive heard good things about the BFG's to but ive also heard that suck in wet weather. Im not going to be racing in any wet weather just dont want to hit that one puddle while shifting and eat my ****. I think im going to stay with the 555r's.

I am not a big fan of my nitto 555s either. Was looking into getting either BFG or 555rs in the rear and soem kuhmos possibly in the front

Get some 275/40/R17s on the back in Nitto 555R Drag Radial. They hook up quite well and unless you are constantly abusing they can last about 10,000 miles.

These are the tires I am running and I get pretty good traction, and they give it a bit of a bulge look without streching the sidewall.

BTW I don't think you will get much more than a few thousand miles outta the BFGs, they are simply super soft. Its ment to be more of a drag tire you swap out at the track.
