Powerdyne Supercharger

Powerdyne Supercharger
Today I had a guy come into work and inform me he had a powerdyne supercharger off of an F150 with a 4.6 for sale. I was wondering how much work it would take to make this work on my mustang. I am planning on building a forged motor and for less than 1000 dollars it would be ok. I think it was putting out around 9 psi and includes a mass air meter, a blow off valve ( I'm not sure why), and the compressor with brackets. He said it is similar to the "johnny lightning kit"

Lets keep this one simple:
Powerdyne FTL! Also, at anything other than minimum boost (6 PSI) they are reported to shred belts constantly, rather than just consistantly like they do at 6 PSI.

Not to sound skepticle but what is all the time, and why do they need the belt replaced so much? I know a guy who has one on his yukon at 6 psi and he says he replaces the belt once a year...I know that is not a mustang, and yeah that is a little much but still.

They are unreliable, they have seals go out/leak oil, etc etc. Anything over the stock boost of 6 or so PSI is going to constantly shred belts.
In short, you get what you pay for. there is a reason the powerdyne kits are so cheap, and it isn't because vortech/ATI/paxton is screwing everyone over. On top of that, powerdyne's kits that have regular gear driven blowers are nearly as much as the vortech/paxton/ati units, so it tells you how much cheaper the belt driven units are.
Powerdyne ftl! Just do a google search and you can find page after page of previous powerdyne owners with complaints!

RE: Powerdyne Supercharger
Why spend the money on a blower that has a history of having problems or requires as much maintenance as Powerdynes do?
BTW I have never met anyone with a powerdyne that didn't regret buying it or didn't have problems with it.
