hey ive been doing some research, and im tryin to save up for a v8. ill prolly have about 13K in cash when i plan to purchase a car. i wanted to save up for a mach 1, but i dont know how cheap theyll be about a year from now. but i was lookin at the 2001 cobra and ive seen some of those going for about 16k or so. is this a good car to get? ive heard the 99 and the 01 are basically the same car, cept the 2001 fixed all of 1999's problems. what does a 01 cobra dyno at? how are they in the 1/4? how do they compare to a mach1? are they about equal? if anyone can answer these questions for me, that would be great.

i recently purchased an 01 cobra. ive seen some magazine articles about the mach 1 being pretty quick. There 0-60 times were 5.1 and there 1/4 mile times were low 13's. I dont really see how they are faster then the cobra's considering they have 15 less hp and so on. I think they are geared a little better then the 01's 3.27s that might be why. Ive seen mach 1s constantly go for at least 18 k. Cobra's are a little cheaper. The cobra has 320 hp to the crank and i believe its about 270 to the wheels? correct me if iam wrong. The mach 1 is 305 or 310 to the crank.

Mach1

The mach1 is actually under rated from the factory. Ford didnt want to happen to the mach1 what happened to the cobra in 99 and have underpowered cars that theyd have to fix. http://www.mach1registry.org/forums/index.php Check that out. Stock mach1s should make around 280whp and around 295 or so tq. They drag faster then the cobra mainly due to the increased torque from the 5.4 truck cams ford used in them, the 3.55s, and the solid axle. By next year i think you could prolly get a mach1 for maybe 16k. Right now the cheapest ones seem to run just under 20k. Have you ever considered an fbody? 13k could get you a clean ls1.

if i can find a used 03 or 04 mach 1 for about 16k with 50k miles or less on it, then id definately jump on it. imo, mach 1>2001 cobra....

now if it were a 03 or 04 cobra, itd be 03/04 cobra>mach1

fbodies are fast, and imo i think firebirds are hot, but i dont like camaros for some reason. also, i dont like the way the fbodies sit, they sit very low ot the ground and it wouldnt be comfy daily driver, but thats just my opinion.

now if i could get an infiniti G35....
