Default Clutch Problem?!

I have a 2000 Mustang Gt 5-speed with 25k miles on it. Last week while i was driving it didn't go to 3rd gear.
After I pulled over it wouldn't get into any gear. When I tried to push it into gear it would make a grinding sound.
(also, when the car is off, it feels normal when I try putting it different gears)

could this be anything but the clutch?! like the connectors etc ....?
If it's the clutch, could someone please let me know what parts I should get and how much it's gonna cost me?
I don't really want any racing or fancy parts since I'm a bit short on cash right now.

Also, a mechanic told me he has to cut the exhust since it's in the way. Is that really true? or he just wants to charge me extra for labor?

I appreciate any comments and suggestions.

Theres no reason anyone should cut your exhaust, if its in the way he should just remove it. He may charge you extra for removing the exhaust because it may be easier and quicker just to cut it, or he's just a moron. Go find another technician and get a second opinion.

since you have the t 45 i would say go with the king cobra clutch kit. i had it on my last car and liked ita lot. it will make the clutch much harder to push in though.

I decided to go with this one:

Anybody knows if this would work with my old, original fly wheel?! I would have it resurfaced of course.

Thanks
