5th to 4th Shift?
I have a stock shifter on my car and when im going about 70-mph and some little honda thinks he's gona be cool and pass me I will shift from 5th to 4th and punch it; but it seems that every time I try and do that its almost like the shifter wants to go anywhere but 4th and i loose alittle time. Is this just because the stock shifter is just that sloppy? I use to do it in my old 97 v6 stang without a problem so do i just need to get a new shifter and problem solved?

so when someone else is being immature and wreckless and pretty much asking for a speeding ticket. instead of minding your own business, going your own way, and being an adult, you gotta "show him whos boss" and speed up so he cant pass you... good thing im not on the highway near you. grow up.
ANYWAY, how many miles on the tranny and how hard do you normaly drive it? and is that the ONLY kind of shift it messes up on?

as for the shift, your spring on the shifter on the right side could be broken so it doesn't shift right. IMO i would go with MGW but that is what i have and i have only driven that so i am a little baised haha.
+1 on shifting into third too... this is where you rev match the tranny because you will be going from like 1500 RPMs to about 3K or 4K... when you are in fifth, press the clutch in and take out. release clutch (while in neutral) and give the engine a little rev so its somewhere close to 3K. while doing that, since your shift is broken, move it to the center, and then press clutch back in and put into gear and take off. when you learn how to do it effectively (i have a short throw and my springs aren't broken) i can do it less then a second

not sure if a short throw will fix the particular problem you are having, but the stock shifter is very sloppy. i had never even heard of "missing gears" untill i got my gt, and would miss 3rd at the worse possible times (usually in a race). and not b/c i dont know how to drive stick either, b/c that isnt the case. i got the steeda tri-ax short throw shifter, and love it. no more missing gears!

You must have missed the memo, T45's suck. Sounds like your synchros are getting close to walking out on you. Reving it to match up the rpm range a little better will help, but a shifter will not. Start saving for a trans rebuild.
