Right now i am trying to choose between a 95 5.0 and a 96 4.6. Can anybody tell me some important stuff i may need to know about these cars? (reliability, power restricitons, etc) I want a take either of these cars and figure out the cheepest way to make either one 300hp. Right now it seems to me as though the 4.6 is better because it is lighter with a sohc. I'm thinking the first mods that will be most effective for the money will be full exhaust, intake, chip, and maybe a throttle body. Please let me know anything you want about these cars as i wish to learn EVERYTHING. Enlighten me please!

i think the 5.0 is cheaper to get to 300hp. parts are cheaper and the 5.0 is easier to work on and modify. all you would need are some good heads and a cam, rocker arms and the hardware/gaskets needed. you should be able to upgrade to 300+ hp for around $1500

find like a 98 Cobra for cheap. if not i would get the 5.0 just to say i have a 5.0 and its easier to mod.

i like the 96-98 better but the 5.0 is just easier to mod up... my uncle has one with 347 hp NA

how is the 98 slow its the same hp as the 94 & 95 gt but a lighter engine

4.6 is weak because it has no bottom end. A stock GT with an Auto won't hardly turn the tires over in first. The SOHC is great at 4k rpm, but that is about it.

go with the 5.0 and mod the hell out of it old school man
