You will need bigger injectors and high flow fuel pump. E85 can make alot of power, but it is less efficient so you have to burn more to get the same results as gas. But to answer your question, yes you can tune your mustang to burn E85...but I would suggest getting it tuned on a dyno.

Ethanol has a similar consistancy to alcohol, hence its high octane yet lower power yield per combustion compared to gasoline (as kecclest said). The seals in your fuel system and some metal parts will not hold up to ethanols chemical make up. and technically because of the power loss per unit compared to gasoline, a tune would do nothing and you would lose power, you would need to raise the compression of the engine to achieve the same results.

Alcohol is abroadclassification of certain organic compounds.Ethanol is primary alcohol, 200 proof grain alcohol,as is methanol (wood alcohol). The isopropyl alcohol found in your medicine cabinet is a secondary alcohol, there are also tertiary alcohols. You are 110% correct as to it's benefits and effects as an engine fuel. Fundamentally it's crap, and (leaving aside the fact that there is no way we could produce the quantity needed without starving off 1/2 the world) if it was any good as a general automotive fuel we would have been running it by now...

+1. I'm a Chrysler/Jeep tech and we make a lot of cars that use E85. It's cheaper than regular, sure. But you get a lot crappier gas mileage and power.
