I'm hearing a noise from underneath my car. It sounds like something loose vibrating. It only happens at about 2000 rpm and only when I'm in gear driving (you can't hear when revving the car in neutral.) The car is also making a squeaking noise which I was told was the throwout bearing which kind of leads me to believe it has something to do with the clutch. Anyone have any ideas?

Need a better description than that.... metal vibrating? loud? quiet? fast? slow?

 

take a video and post it on youtube and then put the think in the thread and maybe we can help you.

does it feel like the vibrating is also in the shifter or you can just hear it? +1 on more description

 

maybe your exhaust mount is loose so whn it gets to 2000rpms it starts vibrating or shaking

 

mine does the same thing only between 1800-1900 rpms and only when accelarating. as the car gets warmer the noise gets quieter

 

Its a Ford. What do you expect from it?

 

Could be the driveshaft. They make a vibrating noise when they are going out. How many miles do you have?

 

Check your heat sheilds on your cats and your cats themselves; make sure that your cats are still intact. I had the same problem on my 93 Probe GT, turns out the honeycomb in the cat broke loose.

Go underneath your car and hit the cats, if your hear the same rattle, you know what it is.

I have already had problems with the heat shields on the cats and it's definintely not them this time. I'm trying to get a video but the car is just too loud to hear anything from the inside.
