Default about to order 31 spline setup, check my order

See anything wrong, anything I should go with instead?

Carrier:
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...p;autoview=sku

Axles:

http://www.americanmuscle.com/moser-...axle-9904.html

Rearend kit:

http://www.americanmuscle.com/rearendrebuild.html

gears:

http://www.americanmuscle.com/motive390.html

I tacked the gears on because I have all but decided to go with some 3.90s to up the ratio. I would love to get the 4.10s but I think they are just going to be too short on the street with the 315/35/17s on there. I don't want to tap out at 112 MPH in 4th gear, and 5th is a no no on a boosted/stock shortblock car.

So, anything else I need, anything I should change? I have been thinking of going with a eaton instead of the FRPP setup, but several people have said thats what they have and it works great + is more streetable/cheaper.

edit: also 99.99 percent sure I am going with these:

I have heard a lot of people say that 3.90's arealittle noisey, thats a lot of the reason they arent to popular. Also what did you mean by 5th is a no no? You the rest of the order looks up to par, even though I would go with a eaton instead, but whatever.

boosting in 5th gear on a stock shortblock car is a recipe for disaster. The load is too great, the intake charge heats up and things break.

Is it the brand of the 3.90 that makes them noisy? I am really on the edge of going with 4.10s but I just hate to see a 112~ MPH redline in 4th with the street tires on...

if you install the ring and pinion correctly they shouldn't ever whine. if they are wearing against each ther right, they will be nice and quiet. no specific ratio is noisier than another.

Actually I read it in this months issue of MMFF and have readit a lot.

Off this site alone:

"3.90 is an inherently noisy ratio, which is why Ford doesn't make a 3.90 set. Several other brands do make them..."

"I wouldn't get the 3.90s. They are very prone to noise (whine), which presumably is why Ford doesn't make a set..."

Just I few I found with a quick search.I dont know this to be true, just have read it a lot, and figured it had some truthto it.

And to 2000GT4.6, is that true on all boosted, or non-intercooled, high geared cars. Reason being, I have ran my car to 140+ several times running 8lbs with an 3 core intercooler, and stock gearing and everything seemed fine. This is the first time I have heard its a dangerous thing.

Its true of any stock boosted 2v. it probably won't blow up, certianly not every time, but it is simply really hard on the car. even with a 4.10 its alot of load on a stock motor 2v with wimpy rods. more load means more stress on the rods, more heat coming in/going out, and just overall more strain. I just stay out of 5th to keep it safe. I am always one to point out how safe my and the overal mongoose tunes are, but I have even seen a monogoose blow up doing this... its just a good idea not to do so. IMO this applys to both FI and nitrous cars... i really would not want to spray a stock shortblock car in 5th.

I already have a T/A performance girdle and stud kit.

the only issue i see is that instead of using summit and american muscle you should get everything from latemodel restoration supply for cheaper.

so when your driving around town you never go into 5th? i understand that it puts stress on it, but then why even have a 5th gear?

No no, I just dont boost into 5th. In other words, when racing I stop at the top of 4th and am done. You just don't want to be at high speed and keep pinning the throttle for a long period of time.

Normally driving, 5th gear is fine, you use it just like anything else. Its not really much of an issue anyway, because if your boosting in 5th on a stock shortblock car it means your on the street and going way to fast for public roads anyway.
