Does anybody know what gear my 1998 GT might have? If it helps, it is stock, it is an automatic, I have the optional 17's with 245 45R rubber, and at 55 I am at about 1700 RPMs... at 60 I am at about 1800-1900 RPMs... and at about 70 I am at about 2000-2050 RPMs. Thanks alot!

I know the 98 Cobra came with 3.27's, but there are a number a people on here with 98 GT's that have 2.73's. Maybe 3.27's were an option....IDK, but most likely he has 2.73's.

Dunno if they were an option or not in 98, but I know the 96's came with either 3.27 or 2.73. Your door tag will tell you which. It will give you an axle code. Somewhere in the archives there is a list I made decoding axle codes. I'll see if I can dig it up. I know my 96 was 3.27 stock.

Truth of the matter is they are all different depending on what rearend parts Ford was swimming in at the time of manufacture. There are codes for all the rears mentioned above plus what my '98 GT auto is: 3.08. Look on the driver's side door jam for you building code sticker. There is a section for rear end and these are the codes:
