if u have the cash go for it. qa1 makes a good one.

basicaly they are just light as hell. taking a good amount of weight off the front of the car

yea id say that they lighten the car alot and do very well for your handleing and QA1's are very nice and u should be able to get one for around your price range maybe a bit more

if youre gonna get one, dont go to cheap. id say to go with upr and get the entire setup, but if all you want is a k-member then check out granatelli. thier new k-member design borrows heavily from maximum motorsports, and its cheap.

mostk members ruin handling, they add alot of slop to the front end... they do help a ton with weight transfer though..

i heard the qa1 doesnt fit well compared to others and that the granatelli is basically the same thing as the maximum motorsports. I havent done the install yet, but the UPR k member looks good and chromoly is supposed to be pretty strong. You can use stock a arms, but MMR makes some really nice ones for around $200.

I've installed QA1 K members on 2 cars now and have not experienced any slop to the front end or did it ruin handling. So I really can't relate to what may have happened to you or someone you know or how it even happened at all. Both cars I did, 1 being mine, help handling and tightened up the front end.

And to the original poster, most people have hit the positive sides of having K members installed, lighter, good for weight transfer, and allows easier access for especially header swaps. The QA1 will allow you to use your stock A arms, you just have to grind the lip off of the rear of them where the bolts go through.
