I have an 04 and my first one was an 88GT. I am overall satisfied with the move I made. I love having all the power but I also like being comfortable and not having some many squeaks and stuff along the way. All you gotta do is a few mods and its good. Maybe a little suspension work but overall I love having the new style. Plus the 4.6 sounds better IMO

I had a 85 GT and I miss it badly. The only 96 to 98 Mustang I would buy is a Cobra I wouldn't waste any $ on a NPI SN95. If that is your car in your sig keep it.

Yes. That's how I felt when I switched from the 5.0 to my 96 4.6.The sn-95 just seemed like it was a little more prestigious. I HATED the fact that the bolt on mods did little to nothing for my 4.6 though. I seriously regretted it for like the first 6 months. Now, not so much anymore.

I've had an 87 GT vert, 88 LX 5.0, 88 Saleen (supercharged, built engine), and 89 LX 5.0 (Cartech turbo, stock engine). I would take my 97 Cobra over any of them. Between a Fox and a 96-98 GT...would probably stick with the Fox.

i had an 89 hatch and now ive got a 99 cobra...the interior is way way nicer, but i liked the ***** the 5.0 had. 5.0 is for speed no doubt.

had an 85.. sold it though. for a DD you cant beat the 4.6

for cheap fast cars.. the 5.0s are king mod for mod dollar for dollar

I would say the Mustang II has that title but the NPI cars are a close second

I would personally love a 96-98 over a fox, it's more than just performance IMO. The SN95 was much more improved over the earlier models, maybe not so much in power but in pretty much everything else. Also when you build one up it's nice to be an underdog when everyone thinks they can look down on your car just because of how it performs in stock condition. When I bought my GT I was very pleased for the power it had, now I never owned a V8 before so that may be why but oh well.
