Default Buy forged parts or completely new shortblock?(questions inside)

Whats up guys...as you know i am ultimately going to turbocharge my car and I would like to start saving early. But what should i save for?

a completely new shortblock?

just buy forged rods and pistons?

Am i going to need more than forged rods and pistons if i go this route(motorwise)?

I was thinking maybe in the end it would just be better getting a new short block
because of all of the other components that come with it?

After i get this engine how will i fine-tune it to my car?

Where will i get my computer system?

when it is all finished can it possibly be reliable(considering factory warranty is out of the window)?

wow big plans? when do you look to be doing this? in the near future or now? if you plan on doing it down the road prices will drop due to the 4.6 eventually becoming cheap like the 5.0(hopefully). look through either 5.0 mustangs and fast fords or MM&FF and you'll see some nice 4.6 blocks that are all done up for around 3 grand. i was just looking at this as for in a few years i plan to drop a beefier 4.6 in. they also have turbo kits that go to these. check out www.racerwalsh.com to see if they have what your looking for. also check out www.coasthigh.com

yea far down the road. I highly doubt the 4.6 getting like the 5.0...isn't the pushrod an overall cheaper engine to make parts for?

i am looking hard at DSS racing.

What kind of (HP) gains can you expect from these?

Whatever you do...DO ALOT of research and figure out EXACTLY what you want and what kind of application you are shooting for (nitrous, supercharger, turbo or N/A). Also, decide on what options you want and then start your price comparisons on builders.

We went with a SuperMod shortblock from DSS in my wife's stang because we were in a rush and DSS had one already built. The builders I would look at are VT Engines, Modular Powerhouse, MD Motorsports, Livernois and DSS. Make SURE you know EXACTLY what you want.
