idle surge

Default idle surge

i havent done anything new or anything. for some reason the idle hops from 700rmp to 1000. sometimes it just sits right under the 1000 mark. i dont know what the hell is up with it. any idea's?

idk, mine does it aswell. sometimes more then others. anywhere from 500 toa lil over 1000....anyone else have any ideas?

You aren't talking about right when you start it after it's cooled down right? Because every morning my car will idle at around 1k rpm until i put it in gear, or it warms up, then it acts normally.

no dude, thats normal, im talking about after its warm. if i stop at a light it will surge for a little then just idle at 1000rmp.

I dont know man, I've got the same problem too. After doing a search I think its our IAC (idle air control), but I dont know if it just gets gummed up and needs to be cleaned or totally replaced. Hopefully someone can chime in here and help all of us out......

That's odd, but maybe you should check the condition of your IAC since that usually messes with idling when it malfunctions...See if you can clean it up or something.

bump for someone who can answer this for us. i will check my iac though. i mean when i put my plenum on a month ago it was cleaned but it cant hurt to check again.

I would bet on the IAC. The only other thing I know of that causes surging is a vacuum leak.
