What I can do to make my 2000 GT lighter
Hey
I was wondering what can I do to my 2000 GT to lighten her up..I have looked at rear seat deletes, aluminum driveshaft, but what else is there...
Any advice I would talk about so let me have it....
Thanks

Totally gut the trunk of everything including the liner, spare, jack, everything.
You maybe able to take the interior out and remove the sound deadening, any and all padding then put the carpets and front seats back in. It'll be louder then hell inside, but it will be lighter.
Racing seats may save a few pounds.
AC delete will save a bunch of weight up front.

it really depends on how far you want to go really you could pretty much gut the car but if not you could do the seat delete, take out some of the wiring thats not needed, take out the carpet, get lighter seats, etc.

definetly switch to racing seats probably save 30 to 50 pounds. and if you willing to drive around with out the spare then the spare and jack around another 40 lbs. but like everybody else is saying depends on what you want to do with the car daily driver or strictly race. daily driver i would not recomend taking spare out or sound damping material under the carpet. also if it is only to be raced there is alot you can do door panels, carpet, seats, a/c compessor and componets, and so on.

Arent the aftermarket tubular K members lighter than stock? And youd get way better handling out of one.
I THOUGHT they weighed a good 40lbs less than the stock K member but I could be wrong

Weight off the front is great for traction. Look into a tubular k-member with coilovers. Also relocate your battery to the trunk. Then you can also do smaller things like take off the front sway bar and get a lighter hood.
Then you can take out the rear seats and brackets, take out the spare and jack, and also an off-road midpipe is about 25-30 lbs (guessing) lighter than the stock mid-pipe. You can also switch the front seats to racing seats, and get lighter drivetrain pieces like driveshaft, flywheel, etc. Please do not run a big booming system in the trunk either!
Light weight wheels will make a huge difference. If you are into drag racing, pick up some 15" drag wheels to lose a lot of rotational mass.
