Sniper is the best there is. For the same price as a diablo or sct. The diablo and sct dont even compare to sniper. If you get a wideband you can tune your car yourself.
I got my car custom tuned and computer flashed with sniper software and worksevery well but it was not a hand held tuner. Only downside is it is a computer flash but do not plan on any more mods.

If you buy the Special Forces or Commando package you get a very nicely made smart interface that can hold up to 5 tunes, and does not have to be connected to a computer to upload any of the 5 to your car. All you need to carry with you is the interface and the OBD-II cable. I carry 87 and 91 octane tunes whenever I leave the Southeast, we can get 93 year-round here in Florida but you don't have to go too far north before 91 is the best you can get.
so could a halfway resourceful novice thats a relatively quick learner properly tune a 2001 gt with just a run of the mill vortech kit on it? I will be using a wideband. I normally wouldn't really consider it but that software looks super user friendly from the screen shots

Absolutely!!!The SF software let's you select "Centrifugal blower" as aspiration type, and then will ask for how much boost your are running, whether you have a fuel management unit, and type of intercooler (or none). The selections for these and the other exhaust/maf/etc settings you enterwill get you a base tune for the blower. Then using the wideband O2 sensor you'll be able to adjust fueling over three rpm ranges (500-2500, 2500-4000, 4000+), along with global partial and WOT settings. The rpm range fuel settings are from -1.0 to 1.0 in 0.2 increments, where the value selected actually alters to A/F ratio by that amount--I.e. if your A/F in the 4k+ range is 11.5:1 and you wanted it a bit leaner (11.7:1) you would select 0.2. To richen it you'd select -0.2 (11.5:1 would become 11.3:1)The part and full throttle global fuel adjustments are selectable (somewhat confusingly) from 0.5 to 1.5 in 0.1 increments, where 0.9 and lower will richen the mix, and 1.1 and higher lean it out. These are not directly related to the actual A/F ratio, and are sort of arbitrary settings.A caution is clearly stated in the manual to "Take small steps, each increment will drastically alter Air/Fuel ratio."The Sniper SF package has no competition for those who want to do their own tuning of FI engines, and are willingto invest in the other stuff needed (mostly just a wideband O2 sensor, and learning what to do).
Everywhere I have read, everyone I have talked to have loved this stuff. Which is why I will be purchasing it within the next month. I had to get something to disable my pats anyway, and it just seems like a very user friendly mega squirt. I can't wait.
