Default Motor Q

my car hit 142K it's skipping around 4K + rpms only when its 80 degrees + outside.... i just think it's time to start on a motor...i have no idea what it wrong with it now my mechanic hooked up the diag machine gave cylinder misfire on 9 & 10 who knows.. no CEL yet!

i drive 80 miles a day.... i want to start to build up a motor in the garage over time..... no i have not done it but think i can manage with books and you guys.....

what would you do... i plan to stay NA but it's a dd and i just decent power but still save some $

how would you guys start? what block? heads? Cam?

I would have a compression test done. If that checks out then I'd fix the problem. I had a COP causing an occasional misfire that didn't cause a CEO until it went out completely.
