Default Experimented shifting tonight...

Well tonight I was out and about in my 99 GT NPI, most of you prob. know the story on it now, hell I may need to change my name to NPI99GT302, anyways I think I found what part of my problem was at the drag strip last week. I was running 9.6s consistant with 2.0 60's and a little spin. Well I was first shifting at around 5800, then tried about 5500 on the rest of the runs. Well tonight my car felt a lot quicker when shifint at 45-4800! I have a 4:10 rear end. Even when shifting at 45-48 it spun longer in 2nd and 3rd, which means its landing in the powerband I guess. So I wonder if trying this at the track will knock off a few 10ths? What do most of yall shift your stangs with 4:10s at?

Redline damnit.
Forget the damn power band of the 281 and the gears. Shift at redline and see what happens.
You'll land back in your power band

Ok buddy

Anyway, Sometimes short shifting is the answer. Our cars make peak power around 5600rpms, so if your geared right and short shift instead of over rev you might pick up some speed. Dont take it to the limiter in each gear, you're just wasting time and gas..

I tried red linning and its crap, I can feel the power dropping off. I gained a few 10ths once I started shifitng in the mid 5000 range. It feels like it drops of even before 56?

I get my bet time shifting at 5200. My G-tech shows a peak HP at 4850. The 5200 shift maximizes the area under the HP curve in my car. Stock gears.

I have a 99 gt with 4.10's and i feel like 2nd hits the hardest when i shift @ about 4800 as well. It takes off like a bat out of hell. Other than that i redline the rest. So i would try that at the track, cant hurt anything.
