Default Lt header problems....

I just got my car back from the shop yesterday, and they installed BBK longtubes & a BBK catted hi flow H pipe (I already had a borla cat back). My previous set up was just the catted X pipe, with the borla exhaust. Here's the following questions/issues:

1. My car threw a CEL. I was under the assumption that even the addition of a hi flow catted X would throw a CEL. So If I had a catted X before and it never threw a CEL, how come now after switching to the current setup is it now throwing a CEL?

I thought that the only way to avoid a CEL with a catted X is to either have your chip programmed (which I do have a chip, but have no clue what the previous owner had in the chip), or you can eliminate it from a MIL eliminator.

The shop mentioned something about them installing different O2 sensors than what was previously on there. Maybe that's the issue. Do BBK longtubes take different 02 sensors than factory headers?

2. My car tries to stall out sometimes now at idle, does the addition of longtubes necessitate a new tune?

3. They said on the driver side the pipes didn't completely fit so they put a good 1" of spacers (washers) between the k member, and frame. Does this sound right? He said this issue was specific to verts, does anyone else with a vert have spacers between their k member & frame for clearance issues with the headers?

That's about it, all in all it's definitely worth it. I think I like the sound of my X pipe better though. I thought I had an H pipe all along, but realized after they ordered it, I had an X. Oh well, you win some, you lose some.

YOu need to get your Decay rate rebaselined for your new setup and your rear 02's turned off. Soon you'll start to notice a Idle hang.

THey shouldn't have needed any sort of spacers thats BS.

Also you're more than likely getting a CEL because they used butt connectors to extend your heated (forward) 02 sensors. Which is causing a resistance. Or they wired them wrong and they are not heating up to Op temps. Or of course you don't have rear Mill eliminators or them switched off. Other possibilities could be they failed to reconnect. This is a major reason you should know how to do the job you're paying them to do. You never know how someone else can **** something up.

man spacing the k frame seems like it would through off your alignment

Okay so I corrected my original post. It's only about a 1" space added between the k member and frame. It looked like more when I first picked up the car, but it looks like they sank together a tad. I don't know what crackpipe I was smoking thinking it was like 6"! Guess that would have been my dramatic side that overtook my brain there for a bit

I hope it doesn't mess with the alignment, but the car does feel like it floats a little now.

I'm still confused as to how I had no CEL with a catted hi flow X, and now with a catted hi flow H & lt's I'm throwing a code. That part boggles my mind.

Get the code read at Advance Auto. If it's just for an O2 sensor, your car should be fine for a trackrun. Good luck!... By the way, any luck with the Liberty?

HAHAHA! I'll have to get a code run at Advance. I'll go get that in a few hours.

As for the Liberty, no luck. I think I'll just take it to the dealer since It's till under the factory powertrain warranty.

Okay so I got back from the track and everyone did pretty crappy. A brand new Z06 pulled a best of 7.9 in the 1/8th and was running consistent low 8's. He should be running much better than that.

Also a brand new roushcharged S197 with a 100 shot of nitrous ran a best of 8.4 & against me ran a 8.9 in the 1/8th. Everyone was complaining that they were bogging real hard off the line.

Anyway my best time of the night (and my first run on the track with this car) was:

RT: .086
60': 2.180
330: 6.034
1/8: 9.229 @ 77.51MPH

Although my times varied between 9.3-9.2 my MPH were consistant 77-78MPH. Even my first run where I dumped it way to hard and ran a 9.689 I still had a 77MPH trap.

My car definitely is running wrong. It stalled out 4 times in the staging lane before running, one of the times. My car hasn't ever done that before, so I don't know what it's doing. Also my steering seems to not be so responsive anymore since getting it back from the shop. I can move the wheel a good 1/16 of a full turn and it doesn't do anything. It used to move either direction the second you moved the wheel. I wonder if those spacers they added are messing with the responsiveness of my steering?
