Default Grinding noise

Has anyone else had a problem with grinding gears from 1st to second when powershifting>? For some reason almost every time i floor it through 1st into second it grinds when i shift. I know my foot is to the floor on the clutch pedal. I recently replaced my clutch with a king cobra as well as the pressure plate. Could it just be the cheap plastic on the quadrant flexing and not disengaging the clutch all the way? Its smooth as butter if i take my foot out of the gas when changing gears. Any thoughts guys?

I had the same problem, but I'm on a stock clutch. I noticed when I didnt take it all the way to redline in first, it would'nt grind, maybe you could give that a try. I usually try to shift around 5600-5700.

yes i did. I have also noticed when i pull the shifter quickly to 4th from fifth to accellerate up a hill it grinds too. This grinding isnt bad,, it goes right into gear, but its definitely grinding. hard to describe the noise. I can feel it in the shifter **** too.

the problem is not your clutch. it is your syncros in the tranny. these trannys have weak syncros. i had to get mine replaced under extended warranty around 36k miles. mine would grind 3rd. it started just grinding every once in a while, if i was driving hard. it got to where it would grind when shifting into 3rd no matter what. the ford dealer charged over $1k to replace my syncros. thsnk god fro extended warranty's....only cost me $100.

damn thats what i was afraid of. What kinda of damage can it cause if i dont fix it? what are my options for a replacement tranny that will bolt up with changed length of driveshaft of clutch setup or anything? Anyone else?

if its not fixed, what will happen is the grind will get worse and worse, eventually grinding when going into that gear, NO MATTER WHAT. ...and then....if you keep letting it get worse, eventually it will shear out that particular gear, and you will become a 4 speed.

as far as transmissions go.....i think its like a tko 500 or 600? somethin like that. i think they are 6 speed trannys, and A LOT more beefier? the whole replacement tranny part, im unsure of (im sure someone who does know will chime in soon) b/c i just got mine fixed instead of replacing the tranny.
