Technically it's a "roller cam follower", however rocker arm gets the message across...

I chucked 2 of my rocker arms on a '88 LX with the 2.3L OHC I-4 by over-revving the thing. That would be my guess as to what happened. Put them back on and it will run but it probably will happen again. Youmay havewhacked the valve guides or something worse when you chucked them.

What weight oil are you running and now may be a good time to check out your oil pump/cooler assemblies if this isn't your DD.

I agree, things look a bit dry and overheated back there--if the valves stuck then the followers could spit out; excessive float from over-revving might do that too...

Well poo.... I did have an oil starvation issue.. Hopefully a new oil pump, pickup, a couple lash adjusters will get me back on the road.

Running too thick of an oil too may cause lash pump up issues at high RPM's. A higher viscosity oil will pump the lash adjusters up under high RPM conditions to the point where it may cause an issue like your car is having.
