Boring Motor?

Default Boring Motor?

Does anyone know what's the largest I can bore and stroke my 96 GT too...I wanna rebuild my motor and bore it and all that good stuff...

I know you can stroke it to at least a 5.1L, but boring should only be used to resurface the cylinder walls not to increase displacement. You'll only gain 2 or 3 cubic inches by boring it .030 over which will not result in any significant gains in power.

Unless he is talking about a big bore kit, where the cylinders are resleeved, and in that case I hope he owns a bank.

There are little/no gains to be had from stroker its on all but the most built motors, and even then the gains are minimal. The big bore kits are worthwhile if your super rich and want every last HP, plus already have a built motor (h/c/i etc) to go along with it... otherwise not.

.030 over is the limit but not the safeest for big hp apps. Thes walls will be to thin. The 4.6 alrady has alot of stroke which is why you dont gain much from it.
