Default Spark Plugs?

I was wondering which plug has seem to be the best for a dead stock 03 GT? The car had a miss in it so I thought I would replace the plugs to see if that help. The factory plugs looked fine and the car has just over 60,000 miles on it. I replaced them with Autolite Double Platinum Plugs. The car did great for about 2 days and now it misses more than before. Since replacing the plugs, I have heard that these cars do not like the double platinum plugs and I will be replacing them soon and to go to a plug that has a fine wire. What plug is recommened and is it possible one of the coils is going bad even though the check engine light has not come on any. Thanks for any help in advance. Brad

When I looked around NGK Iridium seemed a popular choice. Of course there are a lot of different opinions.

buy stock plugs/COPs there is no need for the NGKs. since your car is stock you don't need it, nor would it make a difference.

I'd bet it's one or more of your COP's. When mine went bad it didn't throw any codes.

jwarner0297is exactly right, don't put anything on but the Motorcraft plugs. They are designed for that particular application and they work well. You more than likely need either a coil. Take all of your coils out and take a look at the boots and see if there are any blue marks on them, if there is then replace.

i agree, motorcraft plugs are what you should use. here is my problem. if your car is missing it should throw a code and the cel light should come on are you sure it is actually missing or is it just running rough? coils are a common problem on fords... but it is easy to determine if you have a spark tester and a code to go off of. pm me if you need help after you put in motorcraft plugs.

As long a you have the money just do the whole job: plugs, wires, and coils. then don't worry about them for a long time

no, DO NOT do all of your coils. they dont "wear". they work or they dont. no reason to replace if they work. that would be a massive waste of dough. and if you do anyway, i will take your old ones.

you're right, i just have this tick in my head from when I had my 69 mustang and i just replaced everything associated to the failure. If a spark plug went bad i gave the whole car a tune up. i need to lose that complex
