Default borla stinger

ive got an 03 gt w/flowmaster 40 series that were on it when i bought it and the drone drives me crazy plus id like something a little louder i was wondering what you think of the borla stinger and how bad the drone is if there is one my cousin had a borla on his camaro ss and really liked it. On my car the drone is noticable from about 2000-2200 right were it sits at 65mph-80mph, any advice would be appreciated

i like my borlas, they do drone, but at about 2k rpm. when i get around 2400 rpm and so there is no droning. they will be quiet at first but after a few weeks they will get loud.

You can always change out your mid-pipe.

eh, that might cause even more droning w/ flows.

When i put my stock h pipe back in and left the flows, i couldn't even tell they the flows were there.

when i put the o/r h pipe back in, the nerve wracking drone came back.

I love my stingers. Every catback is going to drone a little, some more than others. Stingers are up there for least drone tho, and I agree with it. The drone isn't bad at all, and when it does "drone" I kinda like the sound, nice and bassy. The only time you will get this drone is when you are going 75+, above 2500 in 5th gear, and like I said its not too bad. I recommend them.

Borla sounds pretty damn good on Mustangs...I've heard a SN95 stang with just a borla catback and I really liked it. I don't mind the drone from my Flows at all.

I have a 99GT and got my Borla Stingers put on maybe 3 weeks ago. It is now, by far the best 99-04 Mustang i have heard in person.

As for the issue of drone. Yes, im sure that as 04ragtop said, all catbacks are going to have drone. However, the drone in the Stingers is absolutely NO reason to disregard them as an option. It is only slightly present from about 2000-2500. Right at slow to average highway speeds. But it has to much less noticable that what you have described as driving you crazy.

I have mine with a MAC O/R H and it is exactly what i was looking for when i gave my 'expectations.' At start up it is quite louder than what i expected, or even hoped for. At idle there is a deep, burbly, refined tone, excellent in my opinion. I have had numerous compliments from anyone who is near the car when i start it. The driving tone is also very pleasing, both loud, and quite deep. (some peole have compared it to a nascar..whatver that means..)

Although mine is not on a stock H pipe, i have heard from many other people that it is still very nice.

(almost forgot,, these things scream like a bitch starting at 3K)

good luck on whatever you chose
