01 gt diablo tuner monitoring
tuner should be arriving today and ive heard 2 extremes. 1 case where people get ping with the unmodified tune, the other is people have maxed out the timing adjustment as advanced as the diablo will do and get no ping.
In either case, it looks like you can monitor some things related to ping in the predators diagnostics. I think that total timing and KR, are 2 things that you can monitor but am not sure if there are any others. Also i have no idea what any of these should have for values or how to adjust timing if they are high or if they are low.
It seems that if you have ping, you have to retard timing and/or add fuel. And if you want to add power, you can take fuel away or increase timing to burn up that fuel but you want to stay well below pinging.
Im basically looking to close this loop with the diagnostics tuel of the tuner and need some feed back on what parameters to monitor and what there values should be.
Thanks

RE: 01 gt diablo tuner monitoring
it sounds to me like you might be a little confused on what all you can do with a hand held tuner...
let me just tell you that there is no way to "monitor ping" with a tuner....you monitor ping with your ears. if you hear your engine ping/knock then you should back off of the timing/spark 1 degree at a time untill the knock/ping goes away.
if you install one of the tunes, and it runs fine with no ping or knock...but you want more power, then you can go into the current tune, and modify it by adding more timing/spark. you can bump the timing as high as you want as long as you dont hear/notice any knock/ping/or any other new noises that werent there prior. the more timing you add....the more power you will get out of your tune. but the higher the timing.....the higher your octane of gas should be to help avoid ping.

RE: 01 gt diablo tuner monitoring
the best way to listen for it is by putting load on the engine...
just go around the block, after you make any changes....and keep your ears peeled for any new sounds/knocks/pings. if you hear nothing new...and the car runs fine....then all is well.
