well you're driving a 12 year old car with an interior made of cheap plastic, its going to make noise. Did you check and replace suspension and steering bushings? also if you haven't replaced your shocks and struts, new ones will make your suspension feel more firm.

Back to the OP, depending on the milage of the car, you need to replace your shocks and struts... probably ball joints as well.

considering 2009 models are coming out in 2008, 2009-1997 = 12

I understand that, but it's still a 97...

And you're getting your math wrong anyway... It's not 2009, It's 2008.

So the actual equation that you are trying to figure is 2008 - 1996 = 12
Because according to your numbers, a car that is a 1997 model would come out in 1996. Please get your facts right before you want to make another informative point.

2008 - 1997 = 11 years old.

Thank you and have a great weekend.

I don't care what yearthe manufacturers consider a car. My car is a 99 mustang gt, which came out in 98, and was most likely driven in 98, hence its a 10 yr old car. His 97 gt came out in 96, and was most likely used in 96 (driven off the lot) so therefore, his car is...12 yrs old. Youre a fool if you go by the manufacturers date. How about we run his vin# and find out the exact production date, hence his true age, which would be 12+ years.

Back on topic, you should either isolate the noises and try to wedge something cleanly into the spot thats rattling if its interior, if its exterior I would isolate it as well, and then take whatever necessary steps (replacing bushing, tightening a suspension component, ect) to fix it.

He's right, your not...

The next years models can start coming out anytime from June to the end of the year and you always start with the next years model when figuring out a cars age after the 2nd qtr.

So yes, a '97 is a 12 year old car because next years models can potentally be coming out already.

2009 - 1997 is 12.

Right now a '98 model is already a 11 year old car because new '09 models are/will be coming out shortly.

It has been that way for ever in the car world and will never change.

His facts are correct, your arn't.

Yes cars do start to come out for sale before the actuall year, so yes the '97 did start to come out in '96 as they have been that way for years and will be forever in years to come out.

Don't believe me? Start to look at new cars from here on out and I bet you'll start to find '09's coming out from almost every make by the end of summer if not a few now already.
