Default HELP ASAP - MAJOR GAS LEAK AT TANK!

i am sorry about the desperate call for help, but i just filled the stang up and it is leaking gas out at a really fast rate (over a quart in ~15 minutes.

i have heard that the SN-95's are somwhat notorious for that, but i need help.

it appears to be leaking from the passenger side of the tank, right where the hardpipe goes into the tank.

i need a quick temporary solution as well asa long term one. i can afford to have $40 worth of gas leak out in a few hours.

are our tanks syphonable? so could i at least get it out of there?

There is a rubber gasket where the filler neck meets the tank. They are notorious for going bad. I think it is like a 20.00 part from Ford.

It should stop leaking once it hits a certain level .

You probably lost the seal at the tank. Its an easy fix. No you can not syphon fuel out of our tanks but you can disconnect the fuel filter and hook a hose to it to a gas can and turn the key on and off to drain it.

Autozone should have the gasket.

It definitely sounds like the grommet where the inlet goes into the tank. It was like $30 from ford, and the local parts stores i have dont carry it, I was told Ford only carries it.

But it should leak down to about 3/4 and shouldn't leak anymore, I would drive it down to about empty then replace the grommet
