Quick question, What exactly is removing your air silencer and are there any benefits of doing it. I have heard people talk about it and was just curios as to what exactly it does. thanks

the air silencer is a rubber boot on the air filter housinggoing in to the inner fender. its simple to remove just grab and pull!!! you will get a little better air flow buy doing this and its free.

I never noticed an increase in volume after I took it off, but I suppose that could be because of my pipes. However, I did experience what I thought to be a slight improvement in throttle response in the lower rpms.

+1 on the silencer removal. I did this to my 04 GT and then soon also put in a K&N filter. the throttle response has definitely improved and I can rev the engine much quicker. And yeah, it makes it a bit louder too, but the sound is cool, it's kinda like a pneumatic air sound. I feel so much better for my engine lol, when I use to rev it, it sounded and felt so restricte untl now. Anyone else have feelings for stangs?

ahh removing the 'air silencer'. I'd rather keep the boot on and suck in air thats at least 30 degrees cooler from the fender. Funny thing is I read in an article where they lost a tenth or two from removing the silencer in the quarter mile, put it back on and they were back to running a tenth or two faster. I feel my car runs stronger for longer (especially after the cars been running and the engine compartment is 150+ degrees) with the boot on.
