Default Cracked Intake Manifold

Yeah, so I think it happened to me too...

But first I'd like to hear some opinions from people who KNOW please. If you guess I will e-slap you.

Anywho....

Symptoms:

Severe Coolant Leak
- Only when system is pressurized and warm
- Seems to DUMP coolant when past 3,500 rpms
- Coolant pools up on Pass. rear 1/4 of manifold
- Have to re-fill overflow tank after each drive

Conditions:

About a week and a half ago, the idler pulley broke off (wtf) causing the belt to shred, overheat, etc. So something could've happened there? The coolant hose towards the pass rear of the manifold has been pushed up on the metal bung that comes out, but no coolant seems to be coming from it...

If it is in fact a cracked manifold I'm going to PI headswap it while I'm in there...

Thanks for the help!

No one gets jokes, eh?

Thanks for the useful post I'm going to change it now, but I clearly said manifold throughout the post.

When mine cracked, the needle stayed on the cold side most of the time, but when i drove it hard, it steamed up. I could also see coolant seeping out too.

This is my second experience with a cracked manifold on a 98 GT( two different GTs). Right now mine is so bad the radiator cant even build up pressure so it overheats as soon as it gets warm.

YEah, you most likely have a cracked intake[:@] I just changed mine not too long ago.....it's weird that yours is leaking at the rear on the passenger side though[&:] Usually they crack at the T-stat housing or close to it. PI SWAP TIME!!

Yeah its your intake...those intakes are notorious for that. Not too hard at all to swap that intake out. If your gonna do the whole swap, which I recommend, I would get some APR head studs to save the trouble if you ever have to take your heads off again. Stupid FORD and their one time use head bolts....LOL

Been a fan of your work, Mr. Jones, but I think I'm going to do heads and cams too!

VT stage I's w/ valve springs and titanium retainers (some more useable rpms), PI heads/Intake and I'll be good to go!

Well, after an awesome tune that is.

Doesnt sound like the cracked manifold problem to me.. sorry. They crack along the front of the intake ... hence the reason you see the aluminum cross over in the new ones. Couldnt really tell you what happends to youres, without seeing pics. But either way... follow in my foot steps and go PI.
