Tires rubbing when turning.

Tires rubbing when turning.
I have a question about tires on an 02 Mustang GT. I bought this car from a 70 year old man this winter, and it has 275/40/zr17 tires all the way aroundon black bullitt rims. When I turn hard either way, they rub pretty bad. They are also very close to the strut shield/covers and have worn some of that away. Are these tires justtoo big? Is there a way to fix this? I was thinking hubcentric spacers, but I have no idea what size to get. Your help is appreciated!

What could it be then? I am clueless as to what could cause them to rub. They appear to be rubbing on a the stabilizer bar in the front because the paint is worn off. It is only hard turns that it makes noise, and going over largebumps you can hear the shock/strut dust covers rub just a little bit. The car is not lowered either. I have no idea.........

Mine did that too. The dumbass before me put huge cheap tires on it. Just go get stock size tires.. It's not even worth the trouble to mess around with bigger sizes (IMO) I slapped some stock size 17x8 Eagle F1's all around and called it a day.

When I say "mine did that too" I mean the rubbing of the stabilizer bar.. I would crank the wheel pretty far one way and the paint would be rubbed off a little. Plus it made a weird ticking noise.. weird stuff, I just got new stock size tires.

See I do not know the size specs. There was no paperwork with them. All I know is that they are ToyoProxies and that they look to fit the rims properly. They are just much wider than stock. Everyone that sees them says "damn those are wiiiiiideeee for a mustang" It is just irritating that I cannot turn sharp in a drive thru or a parking lot because I do not want to destroy a tire eventually.
