I have heard the argument about air velocity versus air volume. Supposedly the 75mm might provide less horsepower then the 70mm because even through air volume is increased, air velocity decreases. I have no idea if this is a valid argument or not. Personally, I think the difference is so slight I doubt you would notice. I went with the 75mm, but I knew that someday I was going to get a supercharger.

Let's look at the empirical data available, which is not much. I'll cite Accufab's own data. On a bolt on, non-FI car, the 70mm and 75mm had the same flow rate measured, of course, in CFM. So, there is absolutely no difference on a N/A car. I've talked to folks (not on this forum at all) who have had more Mustangs than I will ever hope to own, and they agree that the potential for air velocity issues is real and should be considered. I don't have any data on that, though.

I would not recommend the new 78mm because it's a one-piece unit. If the TB breaks, the whole thing much be replaced. No thanks.

I herd many good things from 4.6 owners and they all say C&L is the way to go. Ofcourse I went that way to but I also got a deal of somebody. I have the C&L plenum and no idle issues and did notice a little gain, but I dont have the throttle body yet. When I get one im going with Accufab. I was gonna go all accufab but herd the C&L flows better and also found numbers to go with it against accufab. C&L #1 Accufab #2. Cant go wrong with either one. Also go with 75mm, you wont notice any gains on a 70mm and 78 is to big unless your doin a power adder really soon.

the TB is not where the air is restricted much. 70mm and 75mm will both let plenty of air through unless you plan on FI then you will want 75mm to let it push more air in. i bet if you switched a 75mm for a 70mm with some of these guys who swear 75mm is better they would never even notice any diffrence in power from the 2.

Does anyone know if aftermarket TB's will work with the stock air intake? I am running just a K&N filter and I am happ with it.

I wanna get a new TB soon and I am kinda confused with the whole thng. So the TB sits inside the plenum right?

Yes they work with the stock plenum. But you have to make the opening in the plenum bigger to get any gains.
